Kenya’s Minister of Interior and National Administration said that the country has rejected the US government’s request to revoke the suspension of operations of the cryptocurrency project Worldcoin.
Local media Businessdailyafrica reported that Home Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki told parliament that the government would not lift the suspension on Worldcoin activities imposed in August 2023.
Professor Kindiki said the moratorium will remain in effect until the security and integrity of financial transactions can be guaranteed.
Bitcoin.com reported that according to a report, Worldcoin representatives may have reached an agreement with Kenyan authorities to allow the iris biometric cryptocurrency project to resume operations under new guidelines.
